The ontology patent that catches broken cut continuity — and the plan to bring it into FLEXBOARD

English · XCONDA Hub

Hello, this is XCONDA.

Who this is for: people bothered by props or costumes changing from cut to cut, people making drama or ads where cuts follow one another, and anyone curious about what Cubeberry has patented.

논두렁 광고 원본. 11초와 23초 장면에서 아이의 발을 비교해 보세요

11 seconds and 23 seconds — the shoe came back

The ad above has a break in continuity. Look at two shots from the same ad side by side.

TimeShotThe older child's feet
0:11A fish-eye shot holding both children togetherBoth feet in socks only; the shoes are on the ground
0:23The last cut, lifting the flyerOne foot is wearing a shoe

Nothing in between shows the shoe being put back on. It is not a directing choice; it is a continuity error, created while generating 30 seconds in one pass. Because it was an ad, it shipped as it was.

This happens because video generation AI does not remember what happened in the previous cut — it draws every cut as if seeing the scene for the first time — so it can happen with any model.

In drama this is called "continuity"

Cubeberry CEO Jinseo Lee, who built XCONDA, directed dramas for 20 years as a PD. On set, continuity is one of the things you guard most carefully.

If an actor held a cup in the left hand and holds it in the right hand in the next cut, the screen jumps the moment the cut changes. The audience does not know why, but they sense "wait, something is off". Continuity missed on set surfaces in the edit room, and by then reshooting is hard. In drama it is an error that must not be allowed.

So we decided AI video also needs a device that says "continuity breaks here" first, and filed that method as a patent.

Three principles in plain language

The name looks long and intimidating, but in set language it means "the system takes care of continuity". Below is a plain-language explanation of the concepts behind the title. It is not a legal reading of the claims.

1. Build a rule book (ontology)
Write down what characters, props, costumes and locations are, and which states each can be in — for example, "a shoe is either worn, taken off, or held in the hand".

2. Catch rule violations before creating (violation verification)
Cuts that do not add up — "a shoe kicked off is back on the foot in the next cut" — are filtered out before any video is made.

3. Pass the changed state forward (state transition propagation)
If a shoe comes off in cut 5, "socks only" carries from cut 6 to the last cut. A change that happened once, like a mark on a child's forehead from being hit by a shoe, follows into later cuts too.

The plan for FLEXBOARD

FLEXBOARD is convenient because you can pick one cut and regenerate it. But fixing cut 5 alone can leave cuts 6 to 10 no longer matching the fixed cut 5 — on set, the equivalent of one retake making every later scene's continuity jump. This patent is planned for FLEXBOARD in a direction that reduces that problem.

If it works as planned, one step is added to the production flow.

StepWhat you doTools
1Prepare the scenarioScenario, script
2Split the cuts and write the state tableFLEXBOARD skill
3Run the continuity check (planned)FLEXBOARD
4Make and check the key imagesFLEXBOARD
5Write the Seedance promptsXCONDA prompt skill
6Generate the videoSeedance 2.5

Steps 3 and 4 are the point. Finding a continuity error at the image stage rather than the video stage saves the credits of re-running the video.

Two patents registered this year

Both patents filed this year have been registered. They look at different places.

PatentWhat it looks atRegistered
No. 10-3002930 — a system for multiple verification and automatic correction of generative AI content using inversion of physics simulation dataWhether movement inside a single scene makes physical sense6 August 2026 (filed January)
No. 10-3036790 — a method for generating sequential content using ontology constraint-based violation verification and state transition propagationContinuity between scenes19 October 2026 (filed February)

The physics-inversion patent is planned for extending Blocking Board. Both say the same thing in the end: do not render and throw away — check, then render.

Frequently asked

Q. Can I use the continuity check now?
Not yet. It is at the planning stage and no release date is set. Anything marked "Available now" in the table above can be used right away.

Q. How do I reduce cuts jumping today?
Lock characters with Face Lock in FLEXBOARD, hold continuing states with references and prompts, and check that the pictures connect in Sheet view. The 5-step method is written up in the "curse of the 9 cuts" post below.

Q. Is the error in the rice-paddy ad a Seedance problem?
We do not see it as a problem of one model. Video generation AI works without remembering the previous cut, so it can happen with any model in a video where cuts follow one another.
